Donate to Charity by Leaving a Bequest

Is there room for us in your will?

Your bequest is needed because Cottage by the Sea relies wholly on community support to provide services to over 700 Victorian children every year. Additionally The Cottage receives no program funding from the government. Also there is no other organisation of its kind that provides all year round emergency relief care in Victoria

By including Cottage by the Sea in your will, your gift will support the children in perpetuity.

Please help us by downloading the bequest brochure, and discussing our inclusion in your will.

Bequests

Bequests are often referred to as "the gift that never stops giving".

These gifts are generally used for capital development projects such as improved facilities or simply to allow the Cottage to continue its mission of providing holidays for children in need.

A bequest is a deeply personal gift and benefactors are able to express their support or donate in the manner they feel most appropriate.

When you choose to donate an important gift to change people's lives, of course you want to be certain that it will be effective.

The following reasons are why you can be sure your gift to Cottage by the Sea will make a difference to those who need it.

  • Established in 1890, Cottage by the Sea had been helping young children and families for more than a century
  • More than 84% of the money donated to Cottage by the Sea directly supports the work with needy children
  • The Australian Tax Office endorses Cottage by the Sea for charity tax concessions, including donations which are fully tax deductible. Cottage by the Sea is entered in the public register maintained by the Australian Business Registrar at www.abr.business.gov.au
  • Cottage by the Sea accounts are audited by WHK Day Neilson, and are available to you on request. The annual report is available on request or from this website.
  • Our ABN is 21 987 748 593
Become a partner in life-changing work and leave a lasting legacy for future generations of young Australians. For a confidential discussion about leaving a bequest, contact the General Manager at Cottage by the Sea on 5258 1663 or make an appointment with your solicitor.

A gift in your Will to Cottage by the Sea, no matter how small, is an investment in the future of underprivileged children from around the state.

When leaving a bequest to Cottage by the Sea, the following wording can be used as a guide:

"I give to the charitable organisation Cottage by the Sea, Queenscliff Inc. situated at 29 Flinders Street, Queenscliff in the State of Victoria  [*specify details of bequest] and, if this gift cannot take effect, to the charitable organisation in Victoria which my executors consider most nearly fulfils the objects I intend to benefit."

*Set out precisely the amount or asset to be bequeathed (e.g. the sum of $1000 or the property comprising Certificate of Title # Folio # and described as...).

If it is intended that the whole estate be bequeathed to Cottage by the Sea, state 'my whole estate'. If it is intended that the remainder of the estate be bequeathed to Cottage by the Sea after all other bequests have been made, state 'the residue of my estate'.
