Boogie-boarding fun at Cottage Beach

Our Stories

The children from St Leonards Primary School on this week’s Take a Break program are no strangers to the beach. Living on the coast, they were all very familiar with the water and beach safety. The children shared stories of the school teaching them to snorkel among the St Leonards Pier – how cool is that!?

We knew this group of children would be experienced boogie-boarders, so we made the most of the perfect conditions at our beach.

It was a chilly morning but the sun was shining and the wind was light. The tide was on the move in, which pushed a nice little wave into the shore. As the morning progressed, so did the waves – they became bigger with every set!

The children yelled and screamed with excitement as the bigger waves came crashing down – they all had so much fun!

It was nearing lunchtime at Cottage so we called for one last wave – the “party wave”. Everyone with a boogie-board lined up and rode the last wave in together – it just so happened to be the biggest wave of the day!
