Farm tour for the REEFies

Our Stories

Camp number 3 for the REEF 2 group is always a fun time, and this year it didn’t disappoint. The REEFies headed off on the bus in the morning and were due to do the farm tour at Freshwater Creek after lunch. The tour is a big hit with the REEFies and is a real engaging way to learn about farm animals and how to care for them.

Once we arrived, we were meet by Farmer Phil who is quite the character and does a great job of engaging the REEFies in learning about the animals. The REEFies were all loaded on to the back of the flatbed trailer and were chaperoned around the farm by Farmer Phil. The REEFies learned about cows, sheep, pigs, goats, geese, horses and even peacocks! They were very intrigued and asked Farmer Phil lots of questions that he answered with enthusiasm and wit, which the REEFies loved.

After the tour was done, it was time for the REEFies to explore the farm on their own and even feed the animals. Here’s what they had to say about the experience:

“This is the best activity! I love this farm!”
“Look at the pigs, they are so cute!”
“The cow just licked my hand when I went to feed it!”’
“OMG, I got to walk a goat!”

It was a big afternoon for the REEFies and it was hard for them to say goodbye to the animals. One REEFie asked a Camp Leader as they left, “Can we please get a goat to have at Cottage? PLEASE!”
