Vance Joy & Fair Harbor donate to Riptide Cottage

We recently received the exciting news that, Fair Harbor, a sustainable lifestyle apparel brand, donated $56,842 to Cottage by the Sea from proceeds of a limited-edition collection with Australian multi-platinum singer-songwriter, Vance Joy.
The funds donated will be used to fund the new play zone area in the soon to be redeveloped Riptide Cottage, which will allow us to continue to provide even more respite holidays to children and families in need. We are seeing increasing need for our Riptide Cottage respite holiday programs, with the Cottage booked out most weekends.
Vance Joy has a strong connection to Riptide, having holidayed there as a child with his family back before Cottage by the Sea purchased the building. It was his stay at Riptide which inspired the name of the song Riptide. The rest as they say is history, with Riptide soaring to top of the charts globally when it was released in 2013.
The success story of US apparel company, Fair Harbor, is an example what can come of young people spending time on the coast and drawing inspiration from the beach and the water. Founders, brother-sister duo, Jake and Caroline Danehy, as young kids formed “a deep appreciation for the water and the bounty of the sea” holidaying on the Coast. Then after studying the environmental impact of plastics in the ocean they established an amazing apparel company that converts plastic waste from the ocean into functional swimwear.
A huge thank you to Vance Joy and Caroline and Jake Danehy from Fair Harbor for their support of Cottage by the Sea and their generous donation. Your work is an inspiration.
