What your donation does

Many individuals and businesses make donations largely based on their financial situation at the time to determine the donation amount. That is fine, as all donations are welcome, big or small! However, imagine making the decision based on the impact your money can make on a young person’s wellbeing. Knowing exactly how far your donation goes to improve the lives of others can be motivating and prove more rewarding than simply sending off a cheque and forgetting about it until next year.

Our charity – operating as a non-government and non-profit organisation – relies entirely on donations from businesses and supportive members of the community. We believe maintaining a close relationship with our donors and sponsors is imperative to drive our vision of providing a happy and healthy childhood to all children that come through a Cottage program.

That’s why we want to give you an insight into how a donation helps the Cottage deliver our mission to disadvantaged children:

$4000 – Entirely funds a child’s 2-year experience in our REEF Program. This works out to $38.50 a week, and helps raise the skills, confidence, and life expectations of a disadvantaged young person, from a range of backgrounds.

$500 – Puts one child through a camp. It may not seem like much, but our camps are potentially life-changing experiences for campers. Our programs are invaluable sources of inspiration, fun, and opportunity for children who may not easily find such outlets in their day-to-day life.

$120 – Supplies fresh fruit and vegetables for an entire camp. Keeping our campers fuelled is important for the abundance of fun activities that come their way! We encourage cooperation and respect, as well as educating good life habits such as healthy eating and fitness.

$100 – Fuel for transport. Our tailored service requires us to get our campers to and from the Cottage in Queenscliff, as well as offsite environments for a variety of activities.

$75 – A trip to the local indoor pool in winter. As much as the kids love our coastal surroundings and the beach, it’s sometimes nice to get out of the cold and into warmer waters

$20 – Camp dessert! This is important for obvious reasons…

As you can see, there are so many aspects of our operation that a donation funds, and we promise to make every pledge count. So, next time you go to support the Cottage, think about what your money is actively achieving to positively impact the life of a child less fortunate.
