Where is the storm?

Our Stories

What a week! Storms forecasted all week from the Bureau of Meteorology. Temperatures as low as 4 degrees. Snow down to 600m on the forecast!

We braced ourselves for a horrible week of freezing temperatures, gale force winds and torrential rain. This was not the case for Queenscliff.

In fact, we had a beautiful week at the Cottage and our program ran as if it was the middle of Summer! Tuesday afternoon had us roaming around Queenscliff marina, climbing the 360 tower and out on the old Queenscliff pier.

You would not believe how still and glassy the water was on Wednesday, it was beautiful on the low tide down at Cottage beach. Yes, the water is still cold but that did not put a holt to our plans. The group of 11 children had the time of their lives splashing around in the sea all of Wednesday afternoon!

Thursday was expected to be the worst of the week. However, somehow we managed to again dodge the rain and make the most of the glimpsing sunshine. On our drive over to Barwon Heads, we copped a huge down pour but as we pulled into the parking lot, the sun broke through the clouds and we had a beautiful blue sky for our rock pool ramble.

We kept outdoors all of Thursday afternoon and completed the low ropes course followed by some of our Cottage favourite games. The wind decided to kick in late afternoon, which gave us a great opportunity to fly the new Cottage kites!

Friday hit and it was miserable! But it was a relief to finally see this over hyped up storm. We were able to take the group off to an indoor play centre to let off some last day energy.
