Wish come true

It’s not very often we welcome back the same children to Cottage by the Sea on our Take a Break programs with exception from only a few agencies who join us every year. This week we welcomed children from The Mirabel Foundation who provide support for children who no longer live with their biological parents.
When the bus arrived at the pick up destination we had one young boy who has attended Cottage by the Sea camps three times. He remembered all of the staff members names and shared past camp stories with his new camp friends. They were all getting so excited on the drive to Queenscliff in anticipation of the fun to come!
We sat down to run through our camp agreement and our friend had all the answers for us. He helped our leaders write the agreement.
Each camp he attends his favourite activities have always been at the beach, they have always surfed and usually attend our quicksilver surf day, the boy had told us he’s never been boogey boarding before and asked if he could this camp. With some minor modifications we made his wish come true and the group changed the regular swim to a Boogeyboarding session at our beach.
This young boy always leaves Cottage with a huge smile and is hoping to see us again next year.
