The primary focus of our Programs Team is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children and young adults attending Cottage by the Sea

Our Programs Team come to Cottage with a variety of relevant experiences including teaching, outdoor education, community welfare and youth work. In addition to holding a Current Working with Children Check and Police Check, staff are qualified in First Aid, Safe Food Handling, Mental Health First Aid and Community Surf Life Saving.

Cottage by the Sea offers ongoing professional development and training in areas such as cultural awareness, complex trauma informed focus, child protection, marine and coastal environmental knowledge, aquatic sports, local history and tools for supporting young people through change.

These skills enable Cottage by the Sea staff to deliver a wide range of camp and outdoor activities that help build confidence, respect and resilience. At the heart of everything, the Programs Team uphold the Cottage by the Sea mission to enhance the lives of children through fun, inspiration and opportunity.

Our CEO Adam Wake joined Cottage by the Sea in June 2019 after 11 years managing the Licola Wilderness Village – a non-profit camp in Victoria’s High Country serving disadvantaged and deserving children. Prior to this, Adam held management roles in outdoor education in Australia and internationally.

In addition to a valuable career in outdoor education, Adam holds a law & business degree, has experience in finance as well as training in mental health first aid, childhood trauma, child protection and a range of professional studies.

His passion has and continues to be working to provide better life opportunities for children.
