A visit from Santa at Cottage by the Sea!

Our Stories

Each year for our last Take a Break program, Santa and his helpers arrive at Cottage by the Sea on a fire truck to surprise the children onsite.

Santa visiting the children for an early Christmas surprise has been a tradition at Cottage by the Sea for more than 100 years. This year was no different, thanks to our friends at the Queenscliff Fire Brigade who deliver Santa in one of their fire trucks (because his sleigh is under maintenance).

The children all sat on the front lawn as the truck rolled in with its sirens on. At first we thought it may be a fire drill, until the children saw Santa waving his hands while shouting his famous words, “HO HO HO!”

Santa organised some gifts to be dropped at Cottage earlier in the day, with the help from a special donor from KOGO (Knit One Give One). Each gift was wrapped with the child’s name on it for Santa to hand out. Some gifts were also supplied by the Toy Run Geelong.

Of course, the children were just as excited to see a fire truck up close and wanted to explore the truck and see the fire hose spraying water over the lawn.

It was a great evening and the children were all so thankful for their gifts.

We would like to thank the Queenscliff Fire Brigade and the present donors from KOGO for this wonderful experience.
