A Paddle a Day Keeps the Doctor Away!

Our Stories

At Cottage by the Sea, we are very lucky to have a strong and ongoing support network in our local community. Through incredible fundraising events, our awesome volunteers, endless donations and great publicity, we are truly thankful to have the support from individuals, branches, schools, organisations and many, many more.

Every day the generosity of the public is displayed and we count our blessings from you all, as without your contributions, Cottage by the Sea wouldn’t be the truly remarkable and amazing place that it is.

Recently, thanks to the wonderful help of the Queenscliff Point Lonsdale Community Enterprise Grant Scheme we were able to purchase a set of brand new and much-needed paddles to accompany our groups when we go paddle-boarding around Port Phillip Bay, the Bellarine Peninsula, and Swan Bay.

Paddle-boarding is often viewed as one of our more relaxing water activities, which holds a slight challenge and generally spikes an interest in our older kids and young adults. It is also one of the regular activities that we run almost every week at the Cottage – so as a result, our equipment was well overdue for an upgrade!

On the same day that we picked up our brand new paddles, we thought it would only be fair to put them and the children from camp to the test! After spending our entire morning floating around the crystal clear waters of Indented Heads and exploring the Ozone Shipwreck and the natural surrounding reefs and sea creatures from above, it was safe to say that the paddles and the 14 kids had a good workout!

We would like to say a huge thank-you to Queenscliff Point Lonsdale Community Enterprise for allowing this opportunity to be possible and ensuring that the kids on the camp can continue to get the most out of their time with us!
