Cottage Ambassador Joel Selwood visits the REEFies at Cottage

The whole Cottage team and 18 second-year REEFies loved having Cottage Ambassador, Joel Selwood, visit us today. The second-year REEF program that started today at Cottage in Queenscliff will run through to the end of the week. We have named this camp the Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award 2022 Camp. At the 2022 Brownlow Medal Ceremony, Joel was awarded the Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award 2022. In winning this award, Joel was able to donate $20,000 to Cottage to allow us to fund programs like this REEF program. As we learned today, Joel is as much an inspiration off the field as he was on it, and we feel so fortunate to have him as an Ambassador of Cottage by the Sea.

The kids enjoyed the Q&A outside with Joel before heading off this afternoon on a boat tour of Port Phillip Bay with Queenscliff Fishing Charters & Scenic Tours. Thank you for popping by today Joel and thank you for your donation to support our REEFies this week.

REEFies (n.) – an affectionate way of referring to the children who participate in the REEF program run by Cottage by the Sea. This program stands for Recreation, Education, Environment, and Friendship. This program fosters confidence, leadership and personal development. Children on the REEF program are transitioning from primary into secondary school and attend various programs over a two-year period.
