GIRLS RULE!

Our Stories

This week we welcomed our first camp back post-COVID! The entire school of Natte Yallock a small country town located between Ballarat and Bendigo. All 5 students from the school are girls! They were so excited to take over Riptide Cottage for the week. It was only a short stay so we made the most of it. Arriving around 2:00pm on the Wednesday the bus was racing a fierce storm of thunder and lightning. With severe weather warning forecasted we decided to call our local favourite The Marine Discovery Centre and book in for the afternoon. We spent almost an hour wondering around and learning some cool facts about the local marine life.

Thursday was all about the beach! First up we had a swim to cool off in the morning with offshore winds it was as flat as a tack on our bay. We took one of our paddleboards down to push each other onto waves, but there was no waves it was so calm! Still plenty of fun was had though.

The afternoon, you guessed it, back to the beach we went. This time we made the short journey to Barwon Heads for a low tide rock pool. The wind was fierce so we only spent a short time looking for creatures under the rocks before heading to the bluff lookout for a scenic afternoon tea. We arrived back to camp for the last night of camp.

It was a quick morning Friday, checking out Pt Lonsdale lighthouse before the group packed their bags and hopped on the bus back to school.
